SPORTS MEDICINE

The Fitchburg Family Medicine Residency Program is home to the University of Massachusetts
Medical School's Department of Family Medicine and Community Health Sports Medicine
Program. Having the Sports Medicine Program centered here gives our residents the
opportunity to participate in a weekly Sports Medicine Clinic, and to choose a Sports Medicine
Elective or a Sports Medicine Longitudinal Elective.

The coordinator of the Program, J. Herbert Stevenson, MD, is a member of the core faculty at
FFMR, and he directs the Department's Sports Medicine Fellowship, which is a one-year
post-residency fellowship for FM physicians. Dr. Stevenson also precepts residents while on
Sports Medicine Electives or while participating in the Sports Medicine Clinic.

Interested medical students are invited to email Dr. Stevenson regarding details of the
available Sports Medicine Rotation.
